![]() Youth ActivitiesScience MuseumDominion Science Center will be bringing a wide selection of hands-on exhibits that combine the arts with science and math. New for this year we have an outdoor exhibit called “Fun in the Sun,” which will feature a 15-foot diameter sundial where you stand in the center and tell the time with your shadow, a device that allows you to look at the sun safely, and some gizmos that run on solar power. Inside the tent we will have a group of activities that celebrate the lighter side of math showing all the fun you can have with probability, logic, and geometry. Back from the past are refurbished versions of the Fly-Swatting Machine and Galileo’s Tower. Of course, we’ll also be bringing some of the standard favorites that the young children enjoy, such as the Ex-pour-i-ment Factory, and the Pendulum Sand Table. If you are looking for a quiet moment apart from all the bustle, try sitting down at our miniature Japanese rock garden and designing your own artistic patterns with the sand and rocks. We’ve got activities that will interest kids of all ages and parents, too! Center CourtDon't miss Character Day! Saturday, July 12th from 10:00 am – 6:00 pm in the Centre Court! These families keep the puppies for 16 to 18 months teaching them simple commands and socializing them to the public. When the puppies are returned to The Seeing Eye, they are put through tests and many of them go on to be trained as guide dogs while others become breeders. Many of the families take on a new puppy when the older dog is returned to The Seeing Eye. Dogs that are in harness are real seeing eye dogs and should not be distracted, but we encourage people to pet the puppies, with permission from the foster family. Schedule of Events
